Snow Lake

Contributed by Roger Drake - 1984 - A family backpack took us to Snow Lake in Mount Rainier, a one mile trail, to sleep on the ground for the first time. Also this year Pete and I climbed Yakima Peak near Chinook Pass. It was a short scramble to the rocky 6231' summit. The kid again needed a little help at the top but enjoyed being on a new mountain. About this time I became aware of the great pleasure that Pete and Jacqueline are starting to know of introducing someone they love to doing something they all love. It's like doing fun things for the first time all over again, only better because you don't make as many ignorant blunders.

As far as I can remember from these trips, the only one I possibly remember is Snow Lake. I remember camping by a lake with the whole family away from the car. The only part I remember is sitting in a tent while a ton of mosquitoes were outside. My mom and sister were reading a book together. That is all that has stuck.
